THE CARAT WEIGHT

Diamond Laboratory Report …..CARAT

• The weight of a diamond is expressed in carats. There are 5 carats to one gram.
• The carat weight is divided into points, there are 100 points to the carat. A quarter of a carat is called a ‘grain’ (0.25ct.)
• The bigger a diamond is, the rarer and therefore dearer it is, ie.: a 1ct. diamond can be four/six times more expensive than a similar quality stone of half it’s size.
• Gemmological laboratories use digital scales to determine weight and give the of the diamond weight up to three decimals points.
